Governors Island NYC

Governors Island is one of my favorite new places of 2014. Governors Island is a seven minute ($2) ferry ride from the southern tip of Manhattan and a great place to get away from the congestion of the city. It has biking and walking paths and many summertime activities. The Sculptors Guild holds an annual exhibition on Governors Island. This was the first year that I participated in it. The show's theme this year was Transformations. A video of the Poetry and Prose section of the show can be seen here ( Poetry and Prose Video ).
Beautiful views of lower Manhattan

Price paid for Governors Island: Two ax heads, a string of beads and a handful of nails!

Old theater from when Governors Island was used by the Coast Guard
The insignia if the "Early Birds" ? Don't know what that is about.
Annoying helicopters
Arrival via ferry
Randomly placed Nevelson sculpture up on temporary blocks.
